The Monkie is Desmond Lim.

Desmond began his career as a graphic designer in desktop publishing and slowly rose up the ranks art directing covers and fashion spreads from LIME to 8-days and Style Magazine.

With his keen sense of design and innate ability to story tell, Desmond was quickly put in charge of the Special Projects Department handling major clients like National, Sony, Nike and Levis while spear heading important supplements for the National Day Parade and travelogues for the Australia Tourism Board.

Coupled with a degree in Media Communication and Advertising, Desmond is able to breach across different mediums adding creative diversity to his craft. In 2006, he made a career leap from Art Director to Fashion Editor, heading 3 very successful titles - Prestige Magazine, Prestige Lifestyle and August Man Singapore. Within a short span of 2 years, Desmond was promoted to Fashion Director. His ability to transform important faces from the high society scene into extraordinary characters had gain him a following. Constantly inspired by old films and music, Desmond's take on womenswear can be described as a blend of sensual, classic european glamour with a slight out of bed cool, while his take on menswear is dark, masculine and extremely sophisticated. This translates right through his product spreads and commercial work.

A firm believer in bringing good energy to a set, Desmond had the pleasure of styling celebrities from the likes of internationally acclaimed actress Michelle Yeoh, supermodel Eva Herzigov√°, HongKong actor Francis Ng and Amercian singer song writer Rachael Yamagata, just to name
a few.

Desmond now freelances as a stylist, is a contributing Fashion Director for Tatler, and a brand consultant to luxury labels like Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Dior, Saint Laurent, Burberry, Celine and MiuMiu.
